THE S2P PRIZES

This year the prize money made available by the Politecnico di Milano is 210 thousand euros (S2P Grant prize money) with a prize reserved for a project dedicated to fighting the emergency and impact of Covid-19 and services provided through acceleration schemes.

 

Partners are offering Special Grants and Special Programmes, i.e. awards, services and specific schemes related to issues of strategic interest to them.

The potential value of the total prize money is around 1 million euros.

S2P GRANTS

The winning projects belonging to the «Innovative solutions» and «Both» categories will have access to a total prize pool of 210 thousand euros (S2P Grant) made available by the Politecnico di Milano and divided as follows:

 

  • Up to 5 S2P Grants worth 30 thousand euros each;
  • A 60 thousand euro «Innovation 4 Covid-19» Special Prize dedicated to projects that stand out for the innovation proposed to combat the emergency and impact of Covid-19.

 

All the winning projects of the S2P Grants will have access to an entrepreneurial and technological acceleration scheme dedicated to the practical development of their innovative solutions.

SPECIAL PROGRAMME AND SPECIAL GRANT

Starting from this year, candidates will have the opportunity to be selected by some Partner to access Special Programme and Special Grant, specific schemes and/or other services and awards pertaining to issues related to their business.

Joule, the ENI school for business. A lever for restarting businesses in Italy and for the development of innovative and sustainable startups that consists of a training programme, Human Knowledge Program, focused on the challenges of a sustainable business, and a business accelerator, Energizer, which acts as a reference observatory for the development of businesses, supporting energy transitions, and promoting incubation and acceleration programmes for startups.

DECARBONISATION

  1. CARBON CAPTURE & STORAGE & UTILIZATION
    Solutions for carbon capture and carbon sink fixation, and/or enhancement of the same in additional resources
  2. ENERGY EFFICIENCY
    Solutions aimed at reducing energy consumption in industrial and/or private contexts (offices/residences)
  3. WASTE MANAGEMENT AND PREVENTION
    Innovative solutions and approaches in the field of waste management or aimed at reducing waste and emissions in industrial chains or in domestic contexts
  4. NEW ENERGY SOURCES
    Enhancement of non-exhaustible sources for more sustainable energy production
  5. INDUSTRIAL EMISSION REDUCTION
    Technologies for early detection/prevention of methane gas escapes or for reducing the carbon intensity of industrial processes


CIRCULAR ECONOMY

  1. CIRCULAR INPUTS
    New products from renewable feedstocks; regenerated materials; new recycling and upcycling processes to obtain secondary raw materials
  2. ECODESIGN:
    Aiming to extend the useful life of the products as much as possible by designing them according to modular structures/"from cradle to cradle", so as to offer possibilities for recovery/recycling/regeneration of materials/replacement of parts.
  3. PRODUCT AS A SERVICE
    Business models that leverage temporary access (rather than ownership) to resources or new ways of sharing them among multiple users
  4. INDUSTRIAL SYMBIOSIS
    Processes/business models capable of connecting actors from different supply chains and activating synergies in industrial contexts

The S2P candidate projects in the areas mentioned above can be selected to participate in the JOULE ENERGIZER Special Programme, an acceleration path in collaboration with the Eni School of Sustainable Business. With the support of ENERGIZER, the teams will receive methodological and financial support designed from the deep know-how of Eni and its innovation network.

A Corporate Grant of €30,000 will be awarded to each of the selected initiatives, with the aim of supporting the growth of early-stage startups with a project related to the proposed themes.

Get it! Twice is an empowerment programme for technology transfer. The initiative includes: the Call for Solution aimed at selecting up to 5 innovative solutions among the candidates for S2P and meeting the needs of the Lombardy welfare and health system; the Call for Matching for entrepreneurs and organisations capable of introducing these solutions on the market. The programme benefits from the partnership between Fondazione Social Venture Giordano Dell’Amore – project leader – Cariplo Factory, Politecnico di Milano, Fondazione Bassetti and Fondazione Triulza.

Welfare e healthcare, with particular attention to the challenges that have emerged as a result of the Covid-19 emergency.

    • Remote patient-physician communication
    • Support to integrated domestic assistance of non-independent elderly people
    • Remote programmes of physical and cognitive rehabilitation for children and adults
  2. DISABILITIES AND SCHOOL INCORPORATION
    • Incorporation in school of pupils with impairments
  3. PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT #Covid19
    • Remote management of the phychological well-being of quarantined infected people
    • Remote psychological support to citizens in lock-down
    • Remote psychological support to healthcare personnel
  4. HEALTHCARE & TELEHEALTH #Covid19
    • Triage or remote pre-triage in hospitals
    • Infection detection, mitigation and containment
    • Remote monitoring of Covid-19 patients quarantined at home
  5. WELFARE FAMILIARE & EDUCATION #Covid19
    • Remote edutainment for children and teenagers
    • Remote assistance to soon-to-be parents

Among the candidate initiatives for S2P, the partners of Get it! Twice will select the 5 most outstanding projects able to respond to the proposed themes; each identified initiative will have access to empowerment schemes for the incubation and prototyping of innovative solutions. Fondazione Social Venture GDA will also be able to support the development of some companies through an equity investment.

The Special Grant made available by the Fondazione Social Venture Giordano Dell’Amore as part of Get it! Twice is 30 thousand euros for each project.

OTHER AWARDS

During S2P, they may be reported through additional awards made available by Partners affiliated to the Initiative either in the Special Programme mode or in the Special Grant mode.
